Appendix B. KEYpak Files
When you install KEYpak, a number of files will be loaded on your system. This appendix provides a list and description of these files.
Host files
default.msg is the default message file in the binary format. This is used by KEYpak to generate messages during the conversion process.
kw is the executable image of KEYpak host. It converts one document at a time to the selected target format.
kwad is the executable image for the File Reporter utility. You can use this as a stand-alone utility for determining the format of any document.
kwids.dat is the conversion formats identification file in text format. It contains KEYpak mnemonics for the conversion formats included in your installation.
kwfonts.fnt is the binary font mapping file.
kw*.stb and kw*.ttb are binary files used internally for mapping character sets.
Conversion files
xxsrckw.exe and xxtrgkw.exe are the executable images for each source and target conversion. xx is the two character KEYpak mnemonic or the executable prefix for the conversion format. These executables are called by the host program kw.
vvsrckw.exe and vvtrgkw.exe are the internal conversion utility files.
Configuration files
*.cfg are the character set configuration files associated with target conversions. These files define how each type of conversion will translate source characters to the target file. See target reference files (xxtrg.doc) for specific details on the character set configuration files supplied for each target type.
Note No character set configuration file is provided for the following formats. For these formats, KEYpak will automatically load and map the character set files (kw*.stb/kw*.ttb) as required.
• DEC WPS-PLUS (WPL)
• HTML Hypertext Markup Language (HTM)
• Lotus AMI Pro (AMI)
• Microsoft Rich Text Format (RTF)
• Microsoft Word for Mac (MWM)
• Microsoft Word for Windows (MWW)
• Picture Conversion (PIC)
• PostScript Formatter (PSF)
• WordPerfect 5.x for DOS/Windows (WO)
Interface files
keypak is the executable module for the KEYpak User Interface. This is a menu-driven program that allows you to convert a document from one format to another. It provides on-line, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the conversion process.
kshell.hlp is the help file which contains information on using the KEYpak User Interface. This file is required if you want to get some assistance on using the KEYpak User Interface.
wyse.inf contains an extended terminfo definition for the WYSE 50 terminal. This file is required if you want to use KEYpak User Interface on a WYSE-50 terminal.
Reference files
xxsrc.doc and xxtrg.doc are the source/target reference files for each conversion format. xx refers to the KEYpak mnemonic of the conversion format. See Appendix A for a list of KEYpak supported formats and their mnemonics.
The source/target reference files are provided in text format and
can be viewed from any text editor.
These files contain configurations and their range of values available
for customizing conversions. Target
reference files (xxtrg.doc) also list any character set configuration files
provided with the target conversion.
Sample files
sample.xx are the
sample files provided for each source conversion.
xx refers to the KEYpak mnemonic of
the source conversion.
image.xx are the sample files for image conversions. xx refers to the KEYpak mnemonic of the source conversion.
imageeps.dx is an external EPS file for DECdx image conversion. This file is used with image.dx.
imagetif.mw is an external TIFF file for Microsoft Word (PC) image conversion. This file is used with image.mw.
Internationalization files
msgcnv is the compiler which produces the binary form of the message file. A message text file must be converted to the binary format before it can be used to generate messages in a language of your choice.
stddoc.txt is the message file in text format. This file can be modified to generate messages in a language of your choice.
Optional files
emx.def, EMXI, kecmp, keyword.sh, kwad, kwad.adc, MANIFEST.FIL, wtadd and wtstrip are used for integrating KEYpak into the LMS system.
kocmp, kwad, kwad.adc, OMI, omkw, omsh and openmail.def are used for integrating KEYpak into the OpenMail system.
kwimage, kwpctype, kwraster and kwvector are the optional picture conversion utility files. These files are used for converting image/graphic objects.
